Haji Muhammad Saddique Khan Bumbra

A Life of Integrity, Service, and Dedication

Haji Muhammad Saddique Khan Bumbra, the younger son of Ameen Khan Bumbra and brother of Haji Ahmed Khan Bumbra, was born on 29 November 1921 in Isa Khel, Mianwali. He belonged to a noble and hardworking family known for its honesty, resilience, and contribution to both social and professional life in the region. From an early age, he showed remarkable intelligence, sincerity, and discipline that became the foundation of his distinguished career and respected reputation.

After completing his matriculation from Government High School Isa Khel in 1938, Haji Saddique Khan began his professional journey by joining the Punjab Police as a Foot Constable in Attock District. He joined the force at the age of 26 and served with dedication for 2 years, 7 months, and 6 days, before resigning on 1 February 1949 upon his own request. Even in this early phase, his sincerity and truthfulness earned him the respect of his colleagues and seniors.

Determined to improve his life and seek better opportunities, Haji Muhammad Saddique Khan later joined the Pakistan Tobacco Company in a supervisory capacity. His natural intelligence, practical experience, and deep understanding of tobacco cultivation and processing soon made him a valuable asset to the company. Through persistent hard work, dedication, and expertise, he rose to the rank of Tobacco Expert, managing several depots of the Pakistan Tobacco Company across the country. His professionalism and leadership also led to his posting in East Pakistan, where he continued to represent the company with distinction.

After a successful tenure, Haji Saddique Khan retired and turned toward business. He established a paper dealership and printing press named Niazi Printer and Paper Supplier in Shaheen Market, Multan. However, his restless and enterprising spirit soon attracted new opportunities — he was offered a position by the Sudan Government as a Tobacco Leaf Manager, which he accepted and served for several years. During his time abroad, his expertise and integrity earned him high regard among his peers and employers. Later, he was also offered employment by the Uganda Government, but he declined the offer, choosing instead to return to his beloved hometown, Isa Khel.

His guidance and vision helped many of his family members become doctors, professors, army officers, and successful businessmen — a legacy that continues to honor his name.

Known for his truthfulness, integrity, and sense of responsibility, Haji Muhammad Saddique Khan never tolerated dishonesty or falsehood. His life was a model of simplicity, hard work, and moral strength. He was always ready to help others, particularly the people of his clan and Isa Khel town, often assisting them in securing jobs and improving their livelihoods. His contributions to both his family and his community make him one of the most respected and remembered personalities of the Bumbra lineage.

In every aspect of life — from his service in uniform to his managerial excellence, from his business ventures to his personal ethics — Haji Muhammad Saddique Khan Bumbra embodied the values of honesty, perseverance, and selfless dedication. His legacy remains a guiding light for the generations that followed.

Major (R) Sardar Bahadur Khan Bumbra

A Life of Service, Discipline, and Dedication

Major (Retired) Sardar Bahadur Khan Bumbra, the elder son of Haji Muhammad Saddique Khan and grandson of Ameen Khan Bumbra, belongs to the esteemed Bumbra clan of Isa Khel, District Mianwali. His life is an inspiring example of how perseverance, discipline, and hard work can shape one’s destiny — from a small-town student to a commissioned officer in the Pakistan Army, and later a respected administrator in some of Pakistan’s most prestigious institutions.

From his early years, Sardar Bahadur Khan believed in the value of hard work and self-reliance. He received his early education in Isa Khel, where he not only excelled in academics but also showed exceptional talent in sports, particularly hockey, earning a reputation as a brilliant school-level player. His determination and passion to contribute to his family’s livelihood led him to engage in small businesses during his student life — a reflection of his sense of responsibility even at a young age.

After completing his schooling, he pursued higher education at Edwardes College, Peshawar, one of the country’s leading educational institutions. There, he successfully completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, balancing studies with extracurricular activities. His quest for higher learning then took him to Punjab University, where he completed his Master’s degree. During his university years, Sardar Bahadur Khan distinguished himself as an all-rounder — winning medals in badminton and carrom, and being an active member of the university’s literary club. His academic brilliance combined with leadership qualities made him a promising young man of his time.

In pursuit of serving the nation, he applied for the Pakistan Army and was commissioned in 1971 as a Lieutenant in the Army Services Corps. He participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, demonstrating courage and professionalism in a time of great national challenge. Over his long and devoted military career, he served in various capacities and earned the respect of his superiors and peers for his honesty, discipline, and competence. He retired from the army in 1990 with the rank of Major, marking the end of an honorable and distinguished military service.

After retirement from the army, Major Sardar Bahadur Khan continued to serve his country in civilian institutions. He joined the Army Medical College in the administrative branch, where he worked for five years, contributing effectively to the organization’s management and operational functions. Later, he joined the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in the Mechanical Transport Branch, where his skills, experience, and leadership were recognized, and he rose to the position of Manager Transport. His efficiency and dedication in this role further strengthened his reputation as a capable and reliable officer.

Even after completing his formal government service, Major Sardar Bahadur Khan’s professional journey did not stop. He was later appointed as Administrator under Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, serving in nationally significant projects like the Thar Coal Project and the Reko Diq Copper-Gold Project. His tenure in these major scientific and development projects once again showcased his lifelong commitment to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. He completed his professional service in 2018, bringing to a close nearly five decades of continuous service to his country.

Throughout his life, Major (R) Sardar Bahadur Khan followed in the footsteps of his father, Haji Saddique Khan, who had been a promoter of education and hard work in the Bumbra family. Major Sardar Bahadur Khan took this legacy further — guiding, mentoring, and supporting the younger generation of the family to pursue higher education and respectable professions. His selflessness and sacrifices — often putting the welfare of others above his own comfort — played a crucial role in transforming the family’s educational and social status.

Even beyond his family, he extended his helping hand to the people of Isa Khel and Mianwali, assisting them in securing employment and providing moral and administrative support whenever needed. His name remains highly respected among the locals, remembered with affection and gratitude for his kindness, guidance, and service to the community.

His remarkable journey — from a young, hardworking student in Isa Khel to a patriotic soldier, administrator, and mentor — continues to serve as an enduring example for future generations of the Bumbra family and the people of Mianwali.

He is, without doubt, one of the shining stars of the Bumbra clan, a man whose life story exemplifies courage, service, and devotion to both family and homeland.

Early Life and Education

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Sher Bahadur Khan Niazi was born in Isa Khel, District Mianwali, on 25th December 1966. His early education began in Public School Mardan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), where his father was serving in the Pakistan Tobacco Company. Later, the family moved to Multan, where he continued his education at Aligarh Model School & College, Gulgasht, Multan.

During his youth, he studied at several institutions, including F.G. High Schools in Kharian, Multan, and Quetta — a journey that instilled in him adaptability, discipline, and a deep understanding of diverse regions of Pakistan.

In 1982, he joined Edwardes College, Peshawar, but destiny had other plans. Selected for the Pakistan Army, he joined the Junior Cadet Battalion (JCB) at the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, from where he was commissioned in 1987 into the Ordnance Corps.

Distinguished Military Career

Lt. Col. Sher Bahadur Khan Niazi served the Pakistan Army with devotion, integrity, and passion. His career was a blend of command and staff appointments, marked by professionalism, discipline, and leadership.

One of the most notable achievements of his service was his participation in the United Nations Operation in Somalia (UNOSOM), where he represented Pakistan on an international platform. During this peacekeeping mission, he worked in challenging environments, building global respect for Pakistan’s military ethics, efficiency, and compassion.

His excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to technological advancements made him a trusted officer in every role he undertook.

Throughout his career, he also pursued higher education and professional certifications — a rare blend of soldier and scholar. He earned an MBA from the University of Sindh in 2007, and achieved multiple computer and software qualifications, including Oracle certifications and other advanced computer courses. These skills later helped him in both his post-retirement professional life and in managing his digital initiatives.

After 27 years of distinguished service, Lt. Col. Sher Bahadur Khan Niazi retired honorably from the Pakistan Army in 2012.

Life After Military Service

Following his retirement, he continued serving Pakistan in the civil sector. He worked for five years at the Fauji Foundation Head Office, contributing his organizational and administrative experience to benefit national institutions.

But unlike many, his retirement was not the end of service — it was the beginning of a new chapter of contribution, learning, and leadership.

Founder of Mianwali.org — A Digital Tribute to His Homeland

Lt. Col. Sher Bahadur Khan’s love for his homeland, Mianwali, remained constant throughout his life. In 2009, he transformed that love into a mission by launching a website titled 786Isakhel.com, dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture, people, and history of Isa Khel.

As the platform grew, he expanded its scope to represent the entire district, renaming it 786Mianwali.com, and later merging it into Mianwali.org — now one of the most comprehensive and respected digital archives about Mianwali and its people.

Today, Mianwali.org serves as a living encyclopedia of Mianwali’s heritage, covering its heroes, tribes, villages, poets, scholars, and soldiers. Under his leadership, it has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from Pakistan and abroad. It stands as a permanent testimony to his vision — connecting Mianwalian communities worldwide through the power of knowledge and technology.

A Man of Culture, Character, and Compassion

Beyond his military and technical achievements, Sher Bahadur Khan Niazi is admired for his refined aesthetic sense and artistic soul. A passionate gardener, he has won numerous prizes for his floral designs and lawn exhibitions. He is also a gifted calligrapher and portrait artist, whose work reflects his patience, creativity, and attention to beauty.

An excellent sportsman, he has played volleyball, cricket, and squash, continuing the athletic legacy of his family. His time at PMA Kakul was marked by his sportsmanship and artistic distinction — winning awards for calligraphy and maintaining top physical standards.

Love for Mianwali and Helping Its People

ATTAULLAH KHAN ESA KHELVI  CHIT FOR EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS IN HIS OWN HANDWRITING

Throughout his life, Lt. Col. Sher Bahadur Khan Niazi has used his influence, experience, and connections to help the youth of Mianwali find employment, particularly in the armed forces, government sectors, and private institutions. He has guided students, reviewed their applications, and personally recommended deserving individuals for jobs and educational opportunities.

Many Mianwalian professionals today — serving across Pakistan and abroad — proudly acknowledge that their journey began with the encouragement and assistance of Sher Bahadur Sahib.

His guiding principle is simple yet powerful:“If one of us rises, we must lift another.”

Even after his retirement, he continues to mentor the next generation, ensuring that every deserving young man or woman from Mianwali finds a chance to grow, serve, and shine.

A Living Legend of Mianwali

In the hearts of Mianwalian communities — from Isa Khel to Piplan, from Pakistan to the Gulf — Sher Bahadur Khan Niazi is regarded not just as a retired army officer, but as a symbol of dedication, knowledge, and love for heritage.

On social media, particularly Facebook, countless users express their admiration for his vision and humility. Comments like “A true son of Mianwali,” “A soldier of education and culture,” and “The man who preserved our history” reflect how deeply his efforts are valued.
