THIS PLACE IS KNOWN FOR COAL MINES (PMDC) KNOWN AS MAKERWAL GULLAKHEL COLLIERIES LTD

MAKERWAL PROJECTS WAS ESTABLISHED BY PIDC IN1962 WITH THE NAME  MAKERWAL GULLAKHEL COLLIERIES LTD  AND LATER ON SAME WAS TRANSFERRED TO GOVERNMENT IN 1974 TO PMDC  WITH NAME

MAKERWA L/ GULLAKHEL COAL-FIELD IS SITUATED IN SANGHAR RANGE(TRANS-INDUS RANGE). THE COAL-FIELD EXTENDS FROM ABOUT 3.2 KM WEST OF MAKERWAL TO ABOUT 13KM WEST OF KALABAGH COVERING AN AREA OF ABOUT 75 SQ KM, IN MIANWALI DISTRICT. THE QUALITY OF MAKERWAL / GULLAKHEL COAL IS BETTER THAN THAT OF SALT RANGE COAL AND IS PREFERRED BY THE CONSUMERS .TOTAL RESERVES OF THE DEPOSIT ARE 22 MILLION TONES .
