ZUBAIR NIAZI

Zubair Niazi was born on 31 October 1980, and hails from the village of Sultan Khel in the Mianwali District of Punjab, Pakistan. His familial and tribal links to Sultan Khel provide a strong rootedness in the region. His educational and professional journey later led him to Karachi, where he currently resides.

Education & Early Career

• He received his early schooling in Karachi.
• In 1998 he moved to Lahore and enrolled at the College of Sharia & Modern Sciences (Minhaj University), where he completed his FA and a certificate in Uloom Islamiya (Shahadat-ul-Sanviah).
• Later, returning to Karachi, he obtained an MA in Islamic Studies & International Relations from the University of Karachi.

Professional Journey

Zubair Niazi’s journalistic career spans over two decades with the following highlights:

• He began his media career at Haq TV as Programme Director, then served as News Anchor and News-In-Charge.
• In 2009 he joined Daily Jang as Sub-Editor and wrote numerous articles on current affairs.
• In 2012 he accepted a position with Express Magazine / Daily Express, overseeing sections on Islamic affairs, local government (bil’diyat) and education.
• In 2013 he joined Dawn News as Copy Editor, and later in 2016 became part of Samaa TV in Lahore as News Producer.
• He currently focuses on his media work and the education of his children.

Connection to Sultan Khel & Mianwali

While living in Karachi, Zubair remains deeply connected to his native region – particularly his home village of Sultan Khel in Mianwali. He consistently invites writers, essayists and students from Mianwali (and its surrounding areas) to contribute their articles and essays. His monthly magazine, published simultaneously from Karachi and Mianwali, provides a platform for these voices.
