Prof. Muhammad Saleem Ahsan, is a distinguished figure—a respected Saraiki-language poet, historian, and educationalist whose contributions continue to shape Mianwali’s cultural history.Professor. Muhammad Saleem Ahsan is well known famous Saraki poet, Historian, and educationalist from Mianwali who is the pride of Mianwali. He was born in Mianwali on 12 July 1944. His father’s name is Alhaj Ghulam Hassan. He belongs to Awan-Jangi Khel .

Prof. Muhammad Saleem Ahsan is MA Political Science and MA History.He Started his profession as Lecturer on 17 December 1973 by joining Government Inter College Jalalpur Jattan , Gujarat. He finally completed his 31 years long career as educationalist on 11 July 2004 and at that time he was Head of Political Science Department, Government Post Graduate College, Mianwali.Prof. Muhammad Saleem Ahsan is MA Political Science and MA History.He Started his profession as Lecturer on 17 December 1973 by joining Government Inter College Jalalpur Jattan , Gujarat. POETIC JOURNEY
Muhammad Saleem Ahsan is a prominent Saraiki-language poet. He started poetry by writing poems for children’s by writing poetry for “ bachon ki duniya magazine .Muhammad Saleem Ahsan wrote first poem in 1959 for children magazine when his poem for children’s which were published in the children’s pages of children’s magazines and national newspapers. Regular Urdu poetry began with the genres of Urdu ghazals and poems and continued to adorn various journals. But later on , Muhammad Saleem Ahsan started writing Seraiki poetry and resultantly his poetry sung by various famous singers .
Singer who sung his poetry includes Attaullah Khan Issa Khelvi, Musarrat Nazir, Samar Iqbal, Tarnam Naz, Shamsa Kanwal, Iqbal Bahoo, Mohammad Ayyub Niazi, Atta Mohammad Niazi Daud Khelvi, Shafi Akhtar Wata Khelvi, Liaqat Ali Khan Wata Khelvi, Abdul Sattar Zakhmi, Mohammad Hussain Bandialvi, Ali Imran Awan (Mazhar Malik), and Masood Malik.

He graciously offered his rare books to others, even expressing heartfelt disappointment when some were lost, showcasing a genuine love for literature and people alike.
His living space, filled with artifacts such as relics from Rokhri’s ruins, coins, and sculptures, reflects his deep connection to local heritage. His sitting room (baithak) offered a “calming retreat,” often filled with friends including radio personalities and legal luminaries
LEGACY & IMPACT
As Mianwali’s first nationally recognized poet to win a Presidential Award, Prof. Saleem Ahsan holds a unique place in the literary heritage of the region .

FAMILY
The family includes a son and three daughters, the daughters renovated their homes. Iqbal Fatima wife of Prof. Muhammad Saleem Ahsan is BA, B Ed and now a days living house wife life after retirement from PAF college Mianwali as Headmistress • Abrar Muhammad Ali Malik, son is B SC Engineering, M.Sc. SC, M.Phil. He is currently residing in Canada.
