Flight Lieutenant Zakaulla Niazi’s plane reportedly blew up in the air during a maneuver over Karachi, 1972. Arshad Sethi (Niazi fellow comments ) I vividly remember the day this unfortunate accident happened.In the morning we were waiting for 32 Wing transport to pick us up from Officers mess Reception.Shaheed Niazi said something and gestured with his open palm to explain something.Late Flt Lt Aurakzai was also standing there.When Shaheed Niazi was gesturing with his open palm Late Aurakzai held his hand and said,“Niazi what are you doing standing here.According to LIFE Line on your hand you should be dead´´.We all laughed at this comment but Aurakzai was carrying a book on Astrology which he was reading those days and tried to show us the photographs of life line.Transport arrived and we all boarded it.After the morning brief I was at the Mobile control when I heard this tragic news.Instantly, comment of Aurakzai flashed in my mind and I thought how bad Aurakzai would be feeling at this sad incident.He was totally shattered and regretted as to why he had made that unfortunate comment.I have narrated this to show that sometimes an innocent comment can leave deep scars in our mind.God bless both Shaheed Niazi and late Aurakzai and may they both RIP.Aameen.
