Biography
Mr. Umair Khan Niazi is the son of Zia Ullah Khan. His date of birth is 11 January. He was enrolled as an Advocate on 30 November 2004 and became an Advocate of the High Court on 18 November 2006. He was appointed as Assistant Advocate General on 7 December 2018.
Mr. Umair Khan Niazi completed his L.L.B. (Honours) from University College London, United Kingdom, and also completed his Bar-at-Law and Bar Vocational Course in the United Kingdom. His permanent address is P.O. Musa Khel, Tehsil and District Mianwali.
Legal Career
With private practice spanning more than 17 years, Barrister Umair Khan Niazi has represented private limited companies, pharmaceutical concerns, telecom companies and other clients in matters involving constitutional and regulatory questions.
He has regularly conducted cases involving guardianship matters concerning the Hague Convention, land revenue, labour and service law.
Barrister Umair Khan Niazi also served the Government of Punjab as Additional Advocate General Punjab until May 2022.
Political Career
Umair Khan Niazi joined Pakistani politics in the 2024 general elections and became a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan in February 2024. He was elected from NA-90 Mianwali-II as an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

From Legal Practice to Public Life
Until 2022, Barrister Umair Khan Niazi had been working behind the scenes for nine years as part of the party’s legal team. The legal challenges faced by the party and its founding chairman subsequently brought him into the public spotlight.
Having served as Additional Advocate General Punjab until May 2022, Mr. Niazi also served as PTI Additional General Secretary and as a focal person to Imran Khan on legal affairs.
He joined the party in 2013. As a law graduate from University College London, he has used his legal education and professional experience in constitutional, land, revenue, labour and service law in his political and public career.
I joined PTI because it resonated with my vision of a just and prosperous nation. It is a political party which values education and progress. Ever since I have joined politics, I have utilized my education and expertise to its maximum potential.
View on the Legal System
Regarding the state of the legal system, Mr. Niazi has expressed the view that there is a clear lack of implementation despite the existence of laws.
“After spending 17 years in the legal practice, I have come to know that yes, laws exist, but implementation is nowhere to be found. As a lawyer, I have handled very complicated cases as well, both political and non-political, and my impression has not changed.”
